One of Oovoo’s main competitors is Skype. Skype is web based service that provides video chat and voice call services. This service also allows for users to exchange digital images, texts and videos. Skype was first released in 2003, and as of August 2015, it boast an estimated 300 million active members. It utilizes the “freemium” model, where much of the services are free, but Skype Credit or a subscription is required to make calls to a landline or mobile number. This web based service allows users to communicate over Wi-Fi by voice using a microphone, by video using a webcam, and by instant messaging. Skype is available for Apple smartphones and tablets, Windows smartphones and tablets, Microsoft Windows, Android, and Blackberry. Unique features on Skype include:

- Option to call contacts on Skype through Siri voice commands
- Ability to incorporate Mojis into conversations
Since it’s initially release, Skype has continued to evolve and release updates. There will be a new major release in the coming months for Windows 10.
